You’re getting married to the most wonderful person in your life and you want to shout it from the rooftops.

With your beloved by your side, you can conquer the universe. But for now, you want to do something that properly conveys your message to your loved ones— ‘look at how happy I am with this person!’

And the best way to do that is by having an engagement photography session.

Here is a guide to help you prepare for the day.

Do You Need the Photos Quickly?

Are you just having an engagement photoshoot for fun or is it for your save-the-date?

If there’s no worry about a deadline, use the time to get everything you need i.e. props, wardrobe etc so that your photoshoot properly represents you.

Choose the Right Attire

Which option works better; Sunday best or comfy cosy?

Decide on the right clothing and coordinate with your future spouse so the colors don’t clash. Dress similarly and have yourselves a pampering session so you both look your best.

You don’t want to turn up looking glamorous while your fiancé still has bed head. (Yes, it happens!)

Tell Your Photographer What Mood You Want to Convey

Engagement photos are more personal than wedding photos.

Use the opportunity to try new things and ideas. Be creative and bring yourself out of that introverted bubble. If you want to have a fun photoshoot with props or want to make goofy faces, do it.

If you want some romantic shots, tell your photographer about it.

Think of it as a Date

If you’re feeling a bit clueless about location, attire and theme for your photos, plan for it as you would for a date.

Think of a favourite place that you love and what your beloved likes on you. Use those details as your guide and make a date out of it. Your photographer will love the whole set-up.

Small Personal Details are Important

Details in photography are always important.

Bring something into the game that defines you as a couple, something that holds special memories for you. If you both like to do something fun like hiking, riding a bike, playing pool; make it a part of your photoshoot.

That makes your photos fun and unique.
