4 Things Wedding Photographers Want To Tell You

Those gentle looks; that silent conversation; the soft smile shared between the bride and her father—as professional wedding photographers, we’re silent witnesses to some of the most emotionally intimate moments of our client’s lives and we feel proud of that fact.

You’ve enlisted us to capture one of the best days of your life and we try to do justice to that.

Yet, there are still a few things we are not able to do, or more rightly; can do!

But sometimes, we just aren’t able to tell you… until now, that is!

Photos on Pinterest May Not Look As Exquisite for Your Wedding

Photographers love it when their clients come to them with their own creative ideas. But Pinterest does not a wedding album make!

Keep in mind that your wedding and the wedding in the photographs are quite different. So the result will obviously be the same. If you like a certain concept, you’re more than welcome to ask your photographer for help with it. But don’t ask them to emulate every element from that certain shot. Remember, you chose a photographer for their skills and artistic eye. Take advantage of that.

Unplugged Ceremonies aren’t Just an Ideal Choice for Your Photographer

Photographers don’t just recommend an unplugged wedding for their sake. It’s frustrating when we’re not able to capture a photo because Uncle Bob or Aunt Karen decided to jump up with their iPad and take a picture. We want to capture your special day perfectly but we may not be able to do our jobs if there are too many distractions. It pays to ask your guests (nicely) to leave the photography up to us.

Trust Your Photographer to Do their Job Creatively

We love it when couples say we’re up for anything!

Though some ideas may seem a bit weird at first, the results can be breath-taking. Trust us with lighting, angles and distance. If we ask you to jump, go ahead.

Yes, your dress might get a *tiny bit* dirty near the edges, but you won’t regret the end results. The more freedom you give your photographer, the better your photos will be.

Leave Room in Your Shot List for Specific Shots

Weddings are full of unexpected, lovely moments… moments we can’t capture because we’re too busy sticking to that dedicated shot list.

Again, give your photographer freedom to capture some specific moments. There’s a reason candid photography is so popular.
